We believe that more emphasis needs to be placed
on education and prevention in today’s health care system. We
have seen this in our pharmacy practice by the questions being asked
by our patients and the confusion surrounding wellness choices. Some
of the questions we are presented with daily include: “What vitamins
should I be taking? How do I know which vitamin is best for me? Will
it be harmful if I take too much? Is there a difference in the quality
of different brands of supplements?”. This is just a small sampling
of the questions being asked by today’s health care consumer.
We have documented research for the products we recommend. We know from basic science and biochemistry, that there are many nutritional approaches to improving your health. Did you know that one research study demonstrated that eating four stalks of celery each day can help reduce your blood pressure? A study by the U.S. Agriculture Department discovered that one gram of cinnamon each day decreased glucose, LDL cholesterol levels, as well as triglycerides. This leads us to the conclusion that all type II diabetics should consume cinnamon daily. Remember, you can learn to keep your self in a good state of health. But this requires work on your part. It may require lifestyle modifications, it may require eating smaller portions, it may require changing your eating habits, and it may require more daily exercise. Remember the old adage, “you are what you eat.” We would like to suggest that you are not only a product of what you eat, but also of what you absorb, and how much you exercise.
